The areas around the venue are nice and safe. If you want to stay as close as possible to the venue, you might find nice airbnb-options closer than any hotel. You can search on airbnb using the address of the venue as a starting point:

There are plenty of hotels close to our venue, Markus Menighetshus, Schwensens gate 15.

Walking distance between the hotels above and the venue is 10 – 15 minutes.
Anker Hostel (Budget hostel) and nextdoor Anker Hotel
Walking distance between Anker Hostel/Anker Hotel and the venue is approx. 20 minutes. Please note that the hostel is in a not so charming area, but if that is not important to you, it could be a good choice as it is very close to the city center.

Don’t expect to get a room in this building, although it has 173 rooms just for one family. As far as we know the royal family has not fold on the Airbnb trend yet:-)
