Getting to Oslo

Oslo Airport (Gardermoen) – Oslo Lufthavn (OSL) – is Norway’s main airport.

Normally the best way to get from the airport to the city center is by ordinary train. It’s less expensive than the airport express train, and it uses only a few minutes more. The Airport Express Coach (bus) may also be a good option if your hotel is close to one of the places the bus stops (see below).

Transportation from/to Gardermoen Airport (Oslo Lufthavn/Gardermoen) to Oslo city center:

All NSB Regional Trains that run between Skien, Oslo, Lillehammer and Trondheim stop at Oslo Airport. NSB Local Trains on the Kongsberg–Eidsvoll line also stop at the Airport.

If you plan to use public transportation in Oslo, and will use it at least 4 days within a week, we would recommend you to buy a 7-days ticket for Oslo (NOK 240 – zone 1) at the airport. You need to pay NOK 50 for the travel card you need to buy a 7-days ticket if you don’t buy the ticket in the ruter app downloaded to your phone.

In addition you then need to buy an add-on ticket to get from the airport (which is in zone 4, so the add-on ticket will cover zone 4 to 2, it costs NOK 60). The 7-days ticket will allow you to travel unlimited on trains, buses, trams, metro within zone 1 Oslo for one week. The taxi rank is immediately outside the arrivals hall. You can usually find a taxi from most taxi companies there.

There are many international direct flights from/to Oslo Airport

avinor.no/en/airport/oslo-airport/

Please note that in some cases the airlines might not have set up the flights yet. For instance Aegean and Norwegian will probably set up the flights between Athens and Oslo for the season April-October 2017 in September/October 2016.

The week after our convention, on 27th April 2017, Oslo Airport opens a new terminal. We don’t expect the construction of the new terminal to affect your travels in any way.

Other Airports around Oslo

Be aware that there is another airport, which are also called “Oslo”: Oslo-Torp (Sandefjord). From Oslo-Torp it takes approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Oslo by bus – torpekspressen.no. (There was also another airport, called Oslo-Rygge,  but that has been closed down from 1st November 2016).
